2026 Public Safety Response on County Beaches

Effective May 16, 2026 through September 7, 2026, overtime wages are hereby approved for all County law enforcement personnel, including Sheriff’s Office, Constable Precinct 1 Office, Constable Precinct 2 Office, Constable Precinct 3 Office, and Constable Precinct 4 Office in addition to assigned employees of Road and Bridge South Service Center, during any planned or unplanned beach event or during periods when increased beach attendance presents a public safety concern, as determined by the Sheriff’s Office.
Planned beach events historically known to attract significant crowds that may present a public safety concern include, but are not limited to: “Go Topless Weekend” May 16, 2026 and May 17, 2026, Memorial Day May 23, 2026 through May 25, 2026, Independence Day July 4, 2026 and July 5, 2026, and Labor Day September 5, 2026 through September 7, 2026.
The Sheriff’s Office shall be responsible for the management and coordination of all beach duty operations. In accordance with recommendations from Human Resources, the Sheriff’s Office shall submit detailed reports to Human Resources each pay period that beach duty is worked. Each report must include: (1) The name of each employee that worked a beach duty, (2) the dates and times worked, (3) and a general description of the employee’s assigned duties.
